In our sedentary day-to-day back home we actually live in a predominantly and historically black neighborhood. We love our neighbors and are very involved in the neighborhood association. We’re also based in a relatively diverse mid-size city. There is not a single day that it even crosses our minds if we’ve interacted with other races. So, we’re very unaccustomed to asking ourselves “Is this place safe for people of color?” And we’re white. So we don’t HAVE to ask that question. We don’t have to wonder if we will be safe in the middle of nowhere’s in our country based on our skin color. And THAT IS WHITE PRIVILEGE. This is a prime example of what that phrase means. Azi really has been just an absolute dream in the car! She sleeps like 80% of the drive and plays calmly in her seat the other 20%. Anytime she gets fussy mom just whips out a 🏔️ and she settles right down. What does our backseat set up look like? 1. Montana sits in the back with her when she’s awake. 2. We brought a box of toys and books to interchange when she gets bored. 3. We have teether snacks for entertainment and munchies which have been a total game changer. 4. Some of the driving days have been long and some of the nights have been sleepless but traveling with baby girl was always in our cards.
